Industrial equipment and engineering

Engineering and industrial equipment projects are central to industrial development in Morocco and across Africa.

Driven by sustained industrial investment and the emergence of integrated sectoral ecosystems, these projects operate within complex value chains combining technical design, production, logistics and operations.

They typically involve sophisticated contractual structures, bringing together multiple stakeholders — project sponsors, engineering firms, suppliers, subcontractors and financial institutions — and require careful coordination of technical, contractual and financial commitments.

In this context, legal structuring must be closely aligned with operational realities.

HLF International advises industrial groups, engineering companies and technical operators on the structuring, negotiation and implementation of complex industrial projects across Morocco and Africa.

Case Study — Contractual Structuring of a Complex Industrial Project
Case Study — Contractual Structuring of a Complex Industrial Project

HLF International advised an international engineering group on the contractual structuring of a large-scale industrial project in Morocco involving multiple technical stakeholders.

The project covered the design, supply and installation of industrial equipment in a technically demanding environment, with strict performance and timing requirements.

The firm’s involvement focused on a key structuring phase aimed at securing contractual commitments and ensuring proper coordination between the parties.

HLF International carried out a targeted review of the existing contractual framework to identify key risks, particularly regarding liability allocation, coordination of services and interface management.

The firm then assisted in revising and structuring the contractual documentation to:

■ clarify each party’s obligations

■ secure delay and penalty mechanisms

■ define acceptance conditions

■ structure liability frameworks

Particular attention was given to ensuring overall consistency across the contractual arrangements, avoiding any conflicting interpretations.

HLF International also supported the client in coordinating project stakeholders, contributing to the implementation of a robust and operational contractual framework.

Key issue: securing a complex industrial project involving multiple stakeholders and interdependent contractual commitments.
